The Trump administration touts its commitment to reducing addiction, but its action don’t match the rhetoric. By curtailing research and funding for science-based solutions, we are practically assuring that the problem will continue to worsen over time.

Evidence-based, prevention-minded policymaking is likely to resonate on both sides of the aisle and has the potential to coalesce the public around what can be done for the greater good. Imagine a future where the US government is celebrated rather than denigrated. It’s time we embrace evidence-based policies to reduce waste while preserving effectiveness and investing in prevention for a more resilient, healthier nation.

Evidence-based Parenting Programs have been shown to promote positive outcomes for children and youth by providing families with the support they need to nurture their social, emotional, and behavioral health.
